Brighouse March and Hymn Contest

In 2025 the band achieved best Hymn and there were accolades too at Brighouse for Principal Cornet, Richard Dowling, Soprano Cornet, Steve Scarff and Tim Dunn, Solo Euphonium.

The 25th Annual Brighouse March & Hymn Tune Contest takes place in Brighouse town centre on Sunday, 5th July 2026. Organized by the Huddersfield Lions, the free public event typically kicks off around 12:30 PM, running through the afternoon, and features brass bands from Youth to Championship Sections.

• Time: Expected to start at 12:30 PM (Town Centre) until approx. 6:00 PM

• Location: Brighouse Town Square & surrounding streets, West Yorkshire

• By Car: Brighouse is located just off Junction 25 of the M62. The journey from Sheffield takes approximately 40 to 50 minutes depending on the route (usually via the M606 or A641). Parking is available at various pay-and-display car parks (such as the Wellholme Park or Commercial Street car parks).
